Sharon Smitka

Sharon Smitka is the Vice President and managing director of Kid's Closet Connection.  I also the owner of the Overland Park, KS sale.

I received a Bachelor of Science-Business Administration from the University of Kansas. Upon graduation, I worked for a large retail department store for two years. This made me realize the importance of customer service. Taking care of your customers and providing the best service is crucial for any business to succeed. Happy customers are sure to keep coming back and will pass along positive comments to their friends about what a great company you are.

After working for a few years, I decided I wanted to pursue a marketing career. I received a Masters in Business Administration-Direct Marketing from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.I learned in order to maximize profit, you must successfully target your marketing efforts to those consumers who will most likely benefit from the goods or services you are providing. Upon graduation, I went to work for the largest direct marketing company located in Dallas, TX. I worked with many large national clients on their marketing campaigns.

I eventually decided to be a stay-at-home mom and raise my two daughters.  With only one income, I realized the importance of value. This is when I started shopping at consignment sales in the Omaha, NE area where we lived for 10 years. I saw what a fantastic opportunity this was to shop for gently used children’s items all in one place, at less than retail prices. I could sell my children’s outgrown items and also purchase top quality clothing for them at drastically reduced prices. This is when I decided to start a sale of my own in Kansas City. With my background in retail, direct marketing, and being a stay-at-home mom it was a perfect opportunity, while also enjoying continuing to be a stay-at-home mom.

Chris Smitka

President and Director, Chris is a co-founder of the Franchise. Chris has worked closely with co-founder Sharon Smitka in the ongoing development of the operations of Kid’s Closet. Chris graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Since then he has worked in the railroad industry as a design engineer, a Regional Sales Manager, and most recently as the head of operations for a railcar leasing company.
